Printing from adobe acrobat

The LifeRing enrollment forms are made available in a format known as Adobe Acrobat (sometimes referred to as PDF, which stands for Portable Document Format). You can think of PDF as seeing a document in "Print Preview" mode; when you view an Acrobat document you see an actual piece of paper on the screen, which includes all of the detail contained in the original.

Once you have installed the Acrobat Reader, it should start automatically when you click any of the enrollment form links. Once the document appears in your browser, you can print the form by clicking the printer icon on the Acrobat toolbar (see illustration below).

Clicking the printer icon will bring up a print dialog box. Be sure to select legal size paper (this procedure varies by printer; consult your printer's documentation if you are unsure how to make this change). You will also want to select the "Shrink to Fit" or "Fit to Page" option (see illustration below).

In most cases, this is all you will need to do, but in some instances a particular printer or printer driver may cause some parts of the form to print improperly. If this happens, there are several things you can do to compensate:

  • Be sure you are printing to legal size (8½ x 14 inch) paper. These forms will not print correctly on letter size paper.
  • Some printers have an option that allows you to print True Type fonts as graphic images (the availability and location of this option varies by printer). Consult your printer's documentation for further information. If your printer does have this option, try selecting it and reprint the document.
  • Deselect the "Shrink to Fit" (Acrobat 3.0 versions) or "Fit to Page" (Acrobat 4.0). After you print the document, be sure that none of the form's contents have been clipped from the printable region of the page.

If none of these alternatives work for you, please contact us and we will mail you a copy of the form(s) you require.
